Week three matchup between Haya and Ikhlas saw two evenly matched teams, with the same undefeated records, battling it out for 1st place supremacy in the league. Haya came out of the gates with a strong physical presence testing Ikhlas in their zone and getting them to commit a 4 min major early. Unfortunately they couldn’t capitalize and instead ended up giving up a short-handed goal. Haya battled back and ended up evening up the score on a nice end to end break by defensemen Luqman Arshad. The second half saw much of the same with the two teams battling it out with neither one giving room to the other. Haya continued to pound the ball in Ikhlas’s zone putting 15 shots in the second period to Ikhlas’s 6. However it wasn’t enough as both teams battled it out to score 1 goal a piece leading to a 2 – 2 draw. The physicality and depth of both teams will be something to watch out for as the season progresses. It will be interesting to see how they adjust to each other when they meet again for the last game of the season and into the playoffs.
