Taqwa gets blown out 5-0 Oct 1, 2019
by Omar Essawi

The third game of the night featured Taqwa against Haya. Taqwa, coming off a loss in their first week was looking for a better team effort against a Haya squad that many felt earned a “freebie” against a shorthanded Emaan the week before. The game featured some back and forth action with Haya testing goalie Raza Butt early and often. Taqwa seemed to have trouble getting into the offensive zone and applying pressure ot the Haya defense. Raza stood on his head, but ultimately conceded the first goal to Sufyan Sheikh on a feed from Ali Haroon-one of his 3 assists that game. Saleem Malik would add a goal just before the close of the first period. Frustration seemed to be brewing on the Taqwa bench as they only mustered 3 shots on net that period. The second saw much more of the same from Haya, as Aqib Malik found the back of the net just over a minute into the final frame. This was followed by another marker from new comer Omar Sadat, and finally capped off with Sufyan’s second goal of the night. Taqwa put the pressure on in last 2 minutes, but goalie Imran Alvi stood tall to preserve the shut out. Haya enjoyed complete game and a team effort, while Taqwa know they need to be better again Emaan this week to avoid going 0-3.
