Yaqeen upset Haya for first win of the season Jul 17, 2019
by Mohammad Hamoud

The second game of the evening featured Yaqeen vs Haya.  Earlier in the week, Haya tried to claim Luqman Arshad through waivers however Yaqeen's Mohammed Hamoud wouldn't allow that to happen, as he claimed his former GM from the Winter season and in turn lost Rizwan Malik.  Would this move help the winless snowbirds squad or would Rizzy seek revenge and come up on top?

The game started fast and furious.  Yaqeen was quickly called for 2 early penalties.  Yaqeen weathered the storm with strong defensive play from their defense as well as their goalie making some great saves.  With about 5 mins left in the first, Mohammed Hamoud was absolutely robbed by Yousuf Kapoor.  But Hamoud would get his revenge, scoring very quickly off the faceoff to give Yaqeen a 1-0 lead.  The score stayed 1-0 after 1 period.

In the second period, Yaqeen came out firing.  Mudassir Hussain would score his first goal of the season in his first game in some time, followed by Ali Murtaza scoring his 4th of the season in 3 games staying on fire and then capping it off by Ahmad Ibrahim's first of the season giving Yaqeen a commanding 4-0 lead.  Haya however continued to pressure Yaqeen unti the very end as they peppered Yaqeens goalie with a flurry of shots.  But again Yaqeen's defense and goaltending weathered the storm.

Yaqeen will look to keep their winning streak alive next week as they take on Ihsan.  Haya will be looking to bounce back and stay atop of the leauge as they face second place Sabr.
