In the opening match for both teams, the pre tournament favorites Emaan (minus their superstar anchor on D Zubair Wahid) opened up their campaign with a 5-2 loss. The score however does not reflect the game on the floor. Yaqeen benefited early with some powerplays as well as some fortunate bounces including one ball that ricocheted off a couple players before landing in the back of the net to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The play, however, was dominated by Emaan that could have produced a full album with the music they produced off the posts. With less than 4 mins to go, Emaan finally started to click offensively as they capitalized with 2 superb tic tac toe plays to make it a 3-2 game. The aggressive pace that brought them back into the game resulted in some penalties in the final minutes; with Emaan short handed and goalie pulled, Yaqeen took full advantage by putting in 2 empty net goals to make the final score 5-2.
