Shukr and Haya end in a scoreless draw Feb 27, 2018
by Fahad Mohammad

Game 5 between Shukr and Haya featured 2 teams that usually allow very few goals thanks to their strong defensive play and stellar goaltending.  The game started evenly as both teams traded chances early on however,  as the first half continued, Shukr started to tilt the play in their favour as they had some of the better chances against Haya's goalie.  Khalid Mufti had to be on his game and come up with some huge saves as Shukr cycled the ball well in Haya's zone and got off a few point blank chances.
Despite Shukr missing some of their top players, they did well to limit Haya's chances in the first half and got a strong defensive effort from Aamir Hanif, Zuhair Fancy & Fuzail Thakur; their only 3 defenseman for the game.

Shukr anticipated a push back from Haya knowing it's only a matter of time before their stars Humza Ali and Farooq Sani get their chances however, a couple of penalties by Haya had them playing defensive hockey early in the 2nd half.  Haya did well to kill all the penalties and despite controlling most of the play, Shukr was unable to finish.

Haya got a boost from their penalty kill and they went on the offensive with under 7 minutes to go in the game.  They had great looks on net in Shukr's zone but their goalie Fahad Mohammad did his part to keep the game scoreless.

This game was a goal-tending duel and it seems right that it ended in a 0-0 tie.
