Emaan stuns Ikhlas by a 3-1 score Feb 6, 2018
by Luqman Arshad

Game one of week number two  featured two teams coming off disappointing results in week one. Emaan was blown out 6-0 and Ikhlas gave up a late goal to end with a disappointing 2-2 tie. With Ikhlas having a full team to start the game and Emaan having just 5 men, it seemed like it would be a repeat of week one for Emaan. The only difference was Yousef Soliman a.k.a Drake was in the lineup and wasn’t going to let that happen.  The game started off very quickly with Luqman taking a silly high sticking penalty and that’s all Emaan needed for its team to stay in the game until more troops arrived,  even though they did not score. Ikhlas’s best chance came off Akib Malik and Shuaib Hussein, but Kaunain stood tall with two great saves off of Akib and the rebound coming straight to Shuaib, who missed an open net ringing a tap in off the cross bar. It seemed it wasn’t going to be Ikhlas’s night after taking two more penalties in the first half. The only goal in the half came off a hustle play from Hany Soliman forcing Ikhlas’s goalie to play a potential icing call by deflecting a sweeping pass into the back of the net.
Period two started with Ikhlas putting pressure on Emaan with some great chances but they couldn’t find the back of the net.  Seemed like the team was looking for the perfect shot or just missing the net altogether and every time they had pressure they would negate it by taking another penalty. Emaan scored their second goal seconds after Ikhlas killed there 4th penalty off with a beautiful slap shot from Mo Hamoud from above the bluenline.  Ikhlas got a goal back after some hard work by Dawood Ciombar who slapped a shot over Kaunains glove. Emaan got a late goal to seal the game from the one and only Aazar Zafar who outworked his opponent and pounced on a rebound to score his first goal of the season. Emaan proved they wanted the win more and scored when it mattered most, taking a potential loss to a hard fought win. Team Emaan has one question they will be asking each other all season, how many Soliman’s will actually show up?
