Emaan defeats Ikhlas to lock up second Dec 6, 2017
by Luqman Arshad

Game 1 of week 10 was between 2 teams going in the opposite direction and Ikhlas fighting for the right to play in the playoffs. There opponent was trying to hold on to the number 2 spot and remain ahead of team Haya. Ikhlas was determined to make sure the season wasn't a write off, but not having your captain and leader who built the team playing, would make that even more difficult. Word on the street was he had bailed on his team and we may need him to clear the air himself. Right from the onset Emaan showed they were not ready to play the crafty veterans Hany Soliman and Abdu Sharkawy who played their best game of the season. They also proved to the league they have many more miles left before they hang it up. The early Advantage went to Ikhlas who scored an early goal from Hany to make it 1-0. The pressure continued after the first goal but Emaans MVP Yusuf Kapoor kept his team in the game while they tried to get up to game speed. Emaan got on the board mid way through the first half after some great work from Farooq S. and Idrees D which led to an easy tap in for Idrees K. The half would end with both teams tied but Ikhlas having the better of the chances to score. The second half would start with Ikhlas on the PP with a late penalty from Luqman A for tripping up Umair Awan. Farooq Sani had other plans and put Emaan up with a Short handed goal 19 seconds in to the second half. The lead wouldn't last long as Emaan went down 2 men from a tripping call on Nazeer Gafoor, and Ikhlas scoring a Powerplay goal from Abdu S. The glaring deficiencies proved too much for team

Ikhlas, they just couldn't keep up with there competition. Emaan put the game in the bag with a goal from the team captain Saajid Bhayat and late goal from Idrees D. It was a game Emaan didn't deserve to win while being outshot 27-15, but luck was not on Ikhlas's side throughout the season.
