One Win From an "Undefeated" Season Feb 6, 2006

The Second matchup was between the leagues best team but playing without the league's best player and MVP (Antar Aqil) against a very confident Takathur team. Takathur playing short handed at the guard position saw sparks of the comeback kid, Nadeem Memon, playing like his old self for a brief stint. The game was tight for most of the first half until Humazah made a few easy baskets at the hands of sloppy turnovers by Takathur. As Humazah began pulling away in the face of internal turmoil within the Takathur ranks, they also began falling prey to their own laxity. It wasn't long before solid play from Jeron Hameed brought Takathur back to within striking distance only to lose a game that was decided much earlier. Highlights of the game came from Fuad Hurre who carried the team offensively in light of Antar's absence. The implication of this game is that Humazah finishes its season unbeaten with a tie to Nasr as its only blemish and a record of 7-0-1, good for 15 points and 1st place. Takathur falls to 3-5, good for 6 points and putting them in a tie for 6th place with Quraysh. BUT due to holding the tie-breaker against Quraysh, Takathur WILL make the playoffs by JUST squeaking in, while Quraysh has been officially eliminated.
