It is the Playoffs Right (Part 2)? Jun 19, 2007
by Teepu Khawja

As with Part 1, this recap will be relative to the commitment showed by players to their teammates (i.e. short). Ma'un showed up to this game learning by email earlier in the morning that FOUR players had made themselves suddenly unavailable. Not even a phone call. Scrambling when they arrived, they had to get a pick-up player to avoid the default. And that type of start to the game against the defending champs was a dangerous one. Unfortunately for Ma'un, they were facing a Zilzal team that is now focused since playoffs have started, and one that was hitting its outside shots. Zilzal's Ammer started off 3-8 from behind the 3-point arc in the game's 1st 10 minutes and was throwing them up without a care. Not knowing if he was going to hit his deep shots or not, Ma'un was forced to extend the defence out to him which opened up the court for their remaining players. Ma'un was forced to call a timeout with 5:46 left and down 30-18. The half ended with Zilzal leading 39-29 and lead by Ammer's 18 points, Neil's 8 points and Ark's 6 points. Ma'un was lead by Aamir's 7 points.

The 2nd half showed that Ma'un could shoot along with Zilzal but they just couldn't stop Zilzal and make a real run at the lead. Ma'un's Alek hit a 3 with 13:01 left to make it a 47-39 lead and give his team some hope. But it pretty much fell apart from there. They could never get any closer and were forced to call a timeout with 20 seconds left and down 64-54. Zilzal ended up winning the game 66-54 behind Ammer's 31 points and 6-14 shooting from behind the arc and began their rest before they had to play the 2nd of their 2 games against Qariyah the other undefeated team.
