Ridha loses another close game 2-1 to Emaan Oct 15, 2019
by Fahad Mohammed

The third game of the night featured 2 teams heading in 2 different directions at this early point of the season. Emaan appears on the upswing as some shrewd trading by their GM has them looking to chase first place in their division after a slow start to the season. Ridha has been unable to muster much offence so far and were looking for their first win of the season despite featuring superstar players and good depth throughout the line-up. Ridha was motivated to come out strong and get their first win of the season and with Emaan missing some key players in their line-up, most notably star defensemen Salman Khalid, this appeared to be a good game to do so. The story goes that Salman Khalid was away and asked Ridha GM Farooq Sani too cat-sit for him, however, the truth is that a desparate Sani, looking to do whatever it takes for his team to get their first win sooner than later, held Salman's cat hostage and demanded he not show up for this game in exchange for safe return of said cat. Walking this dangerous line by Ridha GM Farooq did not go as planned. Ridha came out strong and looked for an early lead. Their top line winger Arif Bijabhai, who himself was looking to break out, received a pass from his defenseman at the offensive blue line and sniped a patented snap shot through the goalie for an early 1-0 lead half way into the first period. Ridha played a strong defensive game in slowing down Emaan's star players and Ridha's goalie Ahmad Mobin stopped anything that came at him for more than half the game. However, Emaan's depth came up big as they broke through with under 10 minutes left in the game. Aliudin Mohamed scored his first of the season to tie the game up at one. Emaan kept putting the pressure on and Ridha was unable to get the go-ahead goal especially due to some great goaltending from what appeared to be 8ft goalie Muhammed Abdus-Samad. Emaan's pressure from their top players eventually broke though as they got the eventual game winning goal with only 2 minutes left in the game. Mild-mannered cameraman and underrated superstar Arif khan added to his list of points as he was able to score after a scramble play around goalie Ahmad Mobin. Ridha was once again left with unanswered questions and hope their luck changes sooner than later or they'll be in tough to make the playoffs. Maybe GM Farooq Sani will need to "cat-sit" more than 1 cat at a time for next weeks game.
