Taqwa opens Fall season with win over Ridha Sep 14, 2018
by Abdur Rahim Manjra

The wait was finally over.  I-Slam 2018 Fall season began with great anitcipation when Ridha took on Taqwa. The Humza/Dawood GM duo suprised many with their 1st pick in Huzaifah Panchbhaya who was motivated to faceoff against his Malton assembled peers led by Abdul Rahim Manjra and Mohammad Kazi on this cool September night.

The game got off to a fast pace with both teams exchanging chances early. Mohamed Patel showed no sign of rust when he made a handful of stops, some point blank. Taqwa goalie Ahmed Mobin was also up to the mark stopping Ridha's 1st rounder Yusuf Ingar on a breakaway. It was Taqwa who drew first blood with Rameez Siddiqui banging one infront of the net at the 8:03 mark. Ridha replied just short of the end of the 1st half on a 2 on 1 with Yusuf Ingar tapping it in on pass from Umair Ingar.

The teams started the 2nd half just like the 1st with a run and gun style of play. Taqwa GM Humza Ali who is scouted as the fastest in the league broke the deadlock with 8 mins left for his first of the season.  The end of the game saw Ridha on the power play with a chance to tie it up but to no avail as Ahmed Mobin had all the answers making several stops to get him and his team the first win of their campaign.
